Will I Be Stopped at the Qatar Airport When Trying to Leave? – Majid

“Dear Steve,

I was living in UAE for last 5 years and during my stay i had credit cards which i was paying regularly, unfortunately i lost my job in early 2009 and had to leave the country leaving all the debt. Now iam working in Qatar on an average salary and my question is will i be stopped on Qatars airport while exiting or entering Qatar.

The Answer

Dear Majid,

You could be stopped at the border in Qatar if an arrest warrant was issued for you in the UAE. Qatar is part of the GCC countries and share such information.

The best course of action would be for you to find an attorney in the UAE who could inquire if there is an open legal case against you there. If not, then I don’t think you have much to worry about.

Please update me on your progress by posting updates here in the comments section of your question. I’m very interested in how this works out for you.

Big Hug!

i have debt problem in dubai, i changed my passport, and had new one with new number, will i be arrested in Qatar if i enter ??

    Dear Steve,

Regarding Majid’s case, what i have heard from some people that Majid will be banned in UAE, means he cannot enter UAE in future unless and unless he pays off his debt, but in Qatar he will not be facing any problems even entering Qatar or Exiting, as he is not a crimnal wanted for some serious crimes where interpol will be involved.
    Hope my comment is valid.

      Adil,

It s my understanding that the GCC countries share police information and thus can impact you if you are in any GCC country with the UAE.
