I’m An Aircraft Inspector and Hiding So My Wages Don’t Get Garnished. – James
Dec. 23, 2009
“Dear Steve,
I am a aircraft inspector that travels 70 % of the time with no health benefits and large E.R doctor bills amd 2 credit cards that havent been paid on in months untill i can get on my feet, i have 2 phones of which only 1 the lawyers and bill collectors dont have.
I dont want to stay like this forever, but know i am receiving a message from a law office, how can they find where i work? I dont apply for credit and I want to go to earth mail. I owe the IRS which i keep them paid monthly and off my back.
It will be a year before i can file bankruptcy again, credits ruined anyway. I have a nice big motorhome, title in hand and a car nice as well with title in hand that i can put in someones name in a matterr of hours, and a meembership to a camping resort i can live at practicallly free forever that is also paid, i just need time.
How do i avoid letting them find out where i work, i can change jobs as often as i like, 30 years in the aircraft industry that pays me 40,000 to 60,000 $ a year w/ no problem, if they hit me with a garnishment i can quit and be across country in a week or so making same amount, BUT this paticular job i have i would like to keep and get myself straightend out and quit the madness, i know there closing in, need time, i heard you cannot be sued for excessive medical bills, rumor or truth, can you help with some temporary advise, 3 time divorced and well they always got me in court, no kids or child support!!
James”
Steve’s Answer:
Dear James,
Being a big fan of aviation, since I’m also a pilot, I’m glad you’ve found a field you love to work in.
I see you read my article about how to hide from debt collection, debt collector, and creditors.
I think you’ve already determined that bankruptcy is going to be the solution here since there sounds like no expectation you will be able to dig yourself out.
In order to protect the RV and car you might want to think about a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. If you went that route you could do that straight away without waiting. Regardless, I think that it is imperative that you click here to find a local bankruptcy attorney you like and discuss your situation.
Talking to the bankruptcy attorney right away is critical so you can come up with a plan of action that best fits your situation. Having that plan in place will be a big stress reliever for you.
Talk to your attorney about factoring the cost of health insurance into your debt repayment plan. You can’t risk a huge medical bill when you are already in bankruptcy.
Big hug.
If you have a credit or debt question you’d like to ask just use the online form. I’m happy to help you totally for free.
