We need to take a step back here and address the underlying communication about money first. Your husband could be feeling very inadequate as a provider for his family and his embarrassment and stress over the debt creates silence.

Try to find out how this situation is making him feel and if he is ready to work, as a team with you to deal with the debt situation so things can start inching up instead of down.
