Are the Commercials I See to Get Me Out of Debt, Legit? – Nicole

“Dear Steve,

I have recently been seeing commercials that report there are helps out there if you have more than 10,000.00 in credit card debt. I have just about that as well as all the normal bills most people have. Not sure how I let that happen but…anyway, are there options out there that really cut your debt like that or what is the best way to get these paid off ASAP?

Any advise will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Nicole”

The Answer:

Dear Nicole,

If you are not having problems making your monthly minimum payments but want to reduce your debt you could contact a credit counseling group for help and inquire about a debt management plan.

However, if you are struggling to make your monthly minimum payments then it would be better to seek the free advice of a local bankruptcy attorney and learn more about bankruptcy.

Do some legitimate debt relief companies advertise, yes, but for the most part the advertisements you see on television promising large debt reductions are not truthful and come from debt settlement companies that have a horrible record of telling the truth.

If you want some help checking out a particular company just post the company name in the comments section below and I’ll take a look at them for you.

Big Hug!
