I was issued a 1099C in February 2010 on my second mortgage, I filed my year 2010 taxes and included the 1099C information. Now fast forward to August 2011, and I receive a letter from the mortgage company telling me that they are going to forclose on my home for non payment. Sent a letter back to them with a copy of the 1099C, and they are now responding that they made a mistake it was issued in error back in Feb 2010, and they are going to reverse it, and I owe all back payments, can they do this? If I made a mistake with them I could not say whoops! sorry
