“Dear Steve,

We are seriously in credit card debt. We don’t believe we owe $42,000.00 on 3 credit cards. We haven’t been getting any of our statements, made payments and they call us at home constantly, call us at our jobs, and say that they haven’t recieved any payments from us. We need help and don’t know what to do. We are considering credit card bankruptcy. Please help!!!!!!

The Answer:

Dear Andrea,

If you don’t think you owe this debt then you might be a victim of identity theft. But it sounds like you acknowledge you may have had accounts with these companies since you said you had sent payments.

How are you sending payment and if it is by check, have the checks been cashed? Are you sending the payments to a collection company or the credit card company? I really need more information.

If you are considering bankruptcy you should click here to find a local bankruptcy attorney and go talk to them. Don’t make any assumptions about bankruptcy. Go get the facts. If you do decide to go the bankruptcy route at least it will stop the collection calls.

Big Hug!
