I completely agree with you. Capital Debt Relief was and still a scam. I had been with them for approx. 7 months. Fortunately all money I paid was promptly taken out of the bank acct they set up for them to be able to payoff my creditors. So, they weren’t able to get another dime from me. I even had a county sheriff come to my house for a summons to appear in court, because I was being sued by B of A. Even though, they were supposedly in constant negotations with them.. My ultimate solution was a Ch. 13

All i have to say is always try to negotiate with the credit card companies, all these 3rd parties are mostly scam i ended up paying these scammers over $2600 and now when they had been delaying the negotiations for more than 3 months they told me that your account is current and we cant settle it , so obviously i asked for a full refund and instead they wanted to pay me $1600 , im going to contact my attorneys about this and get their scam asses in court

My husband and I have been with Capital Debt relief program for 2 yrs in which they said they paid off 3 of our bills and have 3-4 to go. I now had a question and have been emailing them and get no reply, only my email back to me. I stopped my money going to them and requested what I have accumulated to be sent to me. My husband has passed away and the bills were in his name so now I don’t know if I actually have to pay those cards./ No one answers my call either and the fees were outrageous. I believe I have been scammed and need some advice.

    Dave,

If you are being sued the most logical approach at this point is to read this about bankruptcy and find a local attorney. Bankruptcy can discharge the debt and stop the lawsuit.

My wife and i are @ 50,000 in credit card debt. We signed up with Capital Debt Relief August 2009. We have been paying 800.00 per month for them to settle the accounts. We have been summoned to court with one creditor and wage garnished with another since. With attorneys calling for more. The attorneys want to settle with options of 4 months @ settlement cost or 12 months at full cost with all added late fee and interest. Even this is still impossible. Capital Debt relief only settled with one acct. We have 15. We have not used credit cards and learned not to for the last year. But at this pace, if we continue the court way, we will lose everything.

I feel we must move away from the debt settlement company but not sure. And if we do how do i start over? Should i contact the credit card companies and try to work it out? Will they talk to me at this point?

capital debt relief i left the program after three monthes paid in 870 dollars they said i get 105 back some scam where can i find work like this

  • http://aol.com John Keegan

Six months ago I signed up for Capital Debt Relief program which, by the way the BBC has no record of, after being told that after 2 months the phone calls would stop and negotiated settlements would happen. The only fee I was told I’d pay for the 4 yr duration of the program was a $59 fee per month. After receiving a few statements I noticed I’m paying an additional $141.00 per month service fee. That works out to about $200.00 per month out of my payment of $277.00 which goes to Capital Debt Relief and not to paying down my debt.. But this $141.00 payment is only for the first 18 months so to tell me $59.00 was the only payment I’d pay for the 4yr duration was in a way correct. Slick,(according to their phone representative) but correct. Ten days ago I received a summons to appear in court by one of the 4 creditors which Capital was going to negotiate with. I called them and their answer was. Sorry we are not lawyers. You are on your own. They gave me a website of Legalcare.com but it seems to be ficticious.
One would think that after I have been in this program for 6 months I wouldn’t need to hire a lawyer to represent me in court but guess what? In fact, the creditor taking me to court said Capital Debt relief never contacted them. The fact is, I would have been better off negotiating a settlement myself between these four creditors. The payments probably would be less and my credit wouldn’t be ruined for 7 yrs.. I’d better go call the public defender and have my head examined, while I’m at it!
