D.C. Council chair Kwame Brown got an unexpected surprise recently when it came out that he had been sued repeatedly for unpaid credit card debt. According to reports, Brown, owes over $50,000 in debt he has not addressed which eventually ended up in court.
This would not be as big a story if Brown had not run on a position of fiscal responsibility and was the chairman of the financial economic committee.
It is yet another important lesson why people should seek to address financial issues proactively rather than wait for it all to crumble into legal action and possible judgments.
