Report a Debt Relief Scam. New Online Database to Protect Consumers.

I’m starting a new section of the website that will allow people to Report a Debt Relief Scam.

The purpose is to allow consumers to report specific information about a debt relief scam. Once reported, I can investigate it further or, if requested, can report the information to regulators and law enforcement personnel to assist in their investigations.

If you know someone that has been a victim of a debt relief scam or has been financially harmed by a debt relief scam, please ask them to report it here.

    I am pretty much of the opinion, that a consumer should assume that a company offering to help with debt is a scam. Of course the consumer can give them an opportunity to prove they are not, but if it doesn’t pass the sniff test, move on. There is no free lunch, there is no get out of debt free card. As pessimistic as this view is, nobody can argue with the logic, and consumers would be better served by looking with skepticism first, rather than trust. It is a sad state but it is unfortunately reality.

    I highly encourage both consumers and businesses to report abusive practices, it is the only way to protect the industry and provide a valuable service to consumers.
