Unlicensed GHS Solutions Handing Back Lots of Cash to Idaho Residents

GHS Solutions is handing back $303,218 to Idaho residents and paying a $15,000 bill to Idaho for penalties, attorney fees and investigative expenses. It seems that GHS Solutions was servicing Idaho residents without being licensed in the state to do so.

Oops.

The Idaho Statesman is reporting:

Since at least July 2008, GHS Solutions provided debt-settlement services to at least 143 Idahoans, the department said. The company required that people open a savings account to be used for debt-settlement purposes and to pay fees to the company. That type of activity requires a license under the Idaho Collection Agency Act, said Department of Finance Director Gavin Gee.

Idaho clients of GHS Solutions can call the department toll free at (888) 346-3378 for information. A list of Idaho-licensed debt and credit counselors is on the department’s website at http://finance.idaho.gov. – Source
