The IRS is taking money out of my SSI after I sent in the form to the collection agency that is is “supposedely” handling this case. They are G.C. Services out of TN. and I have another case with case citibannk but fortunately they are are still processing it.
What can I do about G.C and the IRS?
Thanks for your question.
I am assuming your debt is not a “tax debt” but may be related to child support or student loans. GC Services is a collector for back student loan defaults and child support, they do not collect back federal taxes. In fact, the IRS discontinued any private debt collection in 2009.
The agencies that contract with GC Services also have access to the Treasury Offset Program which can garnish refunds from your tax return. If your issue is related to tax debt, you should contact the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Office. You can find their number and local address at www.irs.gov. However, I believe your primary issue is not tax debt.
If you want to provide more background I would be willing to dig further for you.
