Allied Interstate Collection Agency is Chasing Me for Student Loans. – Elaine

“Dear Steve,

my old 22 years old student loan is in default and being handled by allied interstate collection agency im on unemployment and they are wanting to take my tax return. I didn’t finish the school i went for 8months my parents took out a loan and so did I they paid theres I didn’t . well they issued me two checks but I only used one they are charging me for two checks and its getting bigger by the day I thought in 1998 when they took my taxes this was paid but it isn’t

can I get out of paying this due to my financial problems of not working and raising three kids single mother. do I owe for the second check when I didn’t use the school at that time . what can I do I need my tax return its how I buy my children things. please help if you can

Is this all private student loans, government backed loans or a combination of both? Need more information to answer.
