Debt Restructure Group Consumer Complaint 11/20/2011

Consumer Statement:

I worked with DRG for 4 months (July – October 2011). During that time, they made no attempts to contact my creditors. Further, as none of my creditors work with for-profit entities, there was no way DRG could have settled my debt even if they had tried to do so. I was deliberately misled regarding this during the intake process as I was assured multiple times that DRG had worked with my creditors in the past.

Consumer Action Taken:

I terminated my relationship with DRG in mid-October and was told a refund would be forthcoming. After several attempts to contact anyone at DRG who could give me information about the details, I was contacted by Rob Crenshaw who promised to follow up on my case and give me details within 2 days. He gave me an email address that was apparently a black hole and a phone number that was totally bogus. About 2 weeks later, I received an email indicating no refund would be forthcoming.

I just wrote a letter (following the steps outlined on this blog) and will be sending it to DRG tomorrow morning.

Note:

I sent a letter to Debt Restructure Solution / Debt Restructure Group at the address given and asked them to respond to this consumer complaint.

Its interesting that Rob Crenshaw called. When Don2469 mentioned Danny Bustos, it sparked my memory of a scam loan mod operation called Hayes & Associates which really stuck it to homeowners looking to modify their home loans. I would probably assume the old owner of the company Danny Crenshaw is somewhere in the background of this company too, Rob’s brother. Unless you want to get scammed, I would stay far away.

The ONLY way to be safe with debt settlement is to use a company that follows FTC rules TO THE LETTER… That is, ONLY use companies that get paid WHEN THEY SETTLE YOUR DEBT.
I have nothing against the so-called attorney model, except that in nearly 50% of cases over a typical 3 year period, peoples finances tend to get better- or worse. If they get better & you no longer need the service, with a law firm you will have paid up front and you will NOT get a refund. If your situation gets worse & you need bankruptcy, AGAIN you will have paid for services you did not use! IF, on the other hand, you went with a company that gets paid AT SETTLEMENT, you will not have paid fees for services you did not use.

One more time- ONLY use companies that get paid WHEN THEY SETTLE YOUR DEBT. There are PLENTY NOW!
