LNVN Funding is trying to collect debt that is not mine in West Virginia. – Melanie

I am wondering if LVNV is licensed to collect in WV.

What is WV SOL for credit card debt? There are two credit cards that were charged off in 2006 that I didn’t open. I never authorized anyone to open any credit cards in my name.

There were opened in 2005 and 2006. I didn’t know they were on my credit report until recently. Is it too late to prove that I didn’t open these accounts?

    Hi Melanie,

The SOL in WV for open accounts (revolving unsecured credit card debts) is 5 years.
You can contact the regulator in WV who licenses collection agencies by phone to determine if LVNV is licensed.

If you are an identity theft victim and are just now discovering this, you should file a police report even after all this time.

Have the accounts only recently appeared on your credit? Prior to your recent discovery, when was the last time you reviewed your credit profile, or applied for credit? I am asking because this may be the result of a credit reporting agency merging your file with someone else.
