Deceased spouse and 1099 tax forms

I received a few 1099 tax forms for my deceased husbands credit cards.

I am not on any of these cards and theyt are soley in his name. one is also a buisness credit card that i received a 1099.

I realize that i have to file them with my taxes and its assumed as income for me cause i live in california, but can the credit card companies still come after me for the debt after i include them in my taxed and as income?

Are these 1099′s for forgiveness of debt? If so and they are in his ID # I would think that they would go on his final estate 1041 return and not on your 1040.

    Hi Lisa,

Please speak with a tax attorney, or a tax professional knowledgeable about how the debts of your deceased spouse and the 1099c should be treated on your tax return.
