I just got the same letter is it a scam?

I have received the same letter here in MD.  This is the SECOND company that has sent me a letter of this sort.  The first was from a company called NCS (National Credit Solutions) about 2 years ago.  It is definitely a scam and DO NOT pay it.  It will not ding your credit, it says so right on their website.  Here is how to combat this and what I did last time – Write a very stern letter back to them including asking for proof of the indiscretion, list laws from the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and threaten to report them to the BBB, the State Attorney General and the Fair Trade Commission.  Make sure you tell them you are keeping very good records of any communication with their company and that you will be in touch with a lawyer if they persist without warrant.  I sent this along with a copy of the letter they sent me and it go dropped (or so i thought till I got this one 2 years later).  So i’m going to do the exact same thing again.  Good luck!
