I’m With World Law Group, Been Sued, And Just Had My Bank Account Levied. – Mary

“Dear Steve,

A little over 2 years ago, I lost my job, had no income for a few months, I was already behind on most of my “credit” bills, and some went into collections. I started getting those “threatening” calls from the collection agencies, when all the sudden I recieved this program statement in the mail for World Law Group. Spoke to several employees there, and kind of convinced me to go with the group, that they will help…etc.

I was un aware of my rights, scared half to death I will lose everything so I enrolled. It has been a head ache ever since!! The first claim was a major chain.. Target, well when I went to court, apparently the documents were not filled out correctly, and a judgement was made against me before I even appeared in front of the judge, the others were dragged out, while I made settlements with the lawyers after a few court dates, then I stated a job, and couldn’t take days off to appear in court, so now WWG is making the settlements for me.

But, today I come home and check my bank statement and they have a LEVY on my bank account. So, now not only do I have to pay WLG a large sum of money each month, which I don’t know where it all goes, but I also have to pay with this LEVY, which I am not sure if it will be taken each week or montly. I am a single parent, raising 2 children.. struggling as it is.. trying to catch up. NOW THIS!! I am besides myself. I don’t know what to do. I feel I have so much invested in this program, but I also feel I have nothing. After reading some of the statements here, I am even more frightened. If you can recommend someone for me to speak with, help me.. please. I would be very appreciative!

The Answer

Dear Mary,

You said World Wall Group in your question but I think you meant World law Group, I edited that part.

It sounds to me as if you entered a debt settlement plan based on the representations of some salespeople. They may not have told you the full story. Being sued can be part of the process and those suits can result in wage garnishments and bank levies.

If you want this to stop I would suggest you meet as quickly as possible with a local bankruptcy attorney. You can click here to find a local bankruptcy attorney.

Bankruptcy would give you come substantial right and protections you don’t have now. It will stop and prevent lawsuits and will most likely stop the levy.

Ultimately I think you’ve already answered your own question. As you observed, it’s not going to be possible for you to afford your World Law Group payment and deal with the bank levy. Something has to give here.

Please post your responses and follow-up messages to me on this in the comments section below.

Big Hug!
