I had been using A New Horizon Credit Counseling for a couple of years now when they decided to go out of business. I was given contracts to be transferred over to a new company-ok no problem, I’m over half way there it’s fine. Well I never heard from the new company and A New Horizon said to keep making payments throught them until I heard from the new company. They took my September payment of $355 and never dispersed it–I realized this just Friday night. I risked being dropped from my programs and having to pay the balances in full. I work at Wal-mart, I have student loans I barely make it as it is. Luckily the new company helped me out, Chase just let me make the late payment and the next months and Citi let me make 3 payments took keep me in the program. However I am still out 355 and now it looks like eating will be tricky until next payday.
Consumer Action Taken:
I tried to contact A New Horizon through multiple emails and phone numbers. I also tried Christian Debt Consolidators which reffered me to A New Horizon in the first place. No answers. I am currently working with my bank to try and recover lost funds, but this is just so frustrating when things were finally getting back on track.
