I work in dubai for 3 years from 2004 to 2007, then left due to credit cards and personal loans I cannot pay due to high cost of living in dubai,
I’m here in the philippines and applying for a job in canada which luckily got an offer and start to process my documents but last week a credit collection company calls me and telling me that they were authorized by the bank in dubai to collect the depths I have left in dubai, and telling me that they will file a police case and inform the immigration here in the philippines which will not allow me to get out of my country!
it is that possible that the bank in dubai have the power to black listed me in getting out of my own country? and can my working application in canada can be affected by the depths I have left in dubai? please give feedback….thanks and more power
I am not aware of anyone arrested in the Philippines for a debt in Dubai. While a collector can threaten, as far as I’m aware you can’t be imprisoned for debt in the Philippines like you can in Dubai.
You will certainly be fine in Canada and it should not impact your ability to travel between the Philippines and Canada.
If it was a perfect world you’ve find a way to mutually agree on a repayment plan you can afford on the Dubai debt left behind. But then again, it’s not a perfect world.
If you are unable to pay before you leave you might want to consider switching your SIM cards and changing your mobile number if that’s what they called you on.
