I Have a CC debt in the UAE and I want to ask an advise if the police can arrest me in Yemen though the country is not part of GCC?
2 years ago I lost my job in dubai and left CC debt with 4 banks. I moved to Yemen, regardless os the situation of the country I came here to accept a job offer. Now, a member of a our security team has been telling me that he found out that I have a police case in Dubai. I am not sure if he wanted to blackmail me to get money or he have a connection with the ntional security or police. I have had CID cleared few months ago, opened a bank account here and have twice renewd my residence visa. My question is? can I get arrested over my debt in Dubai here in Yemen? Will the UAE government tell the police to arrest me?
I want to move on with a new job and planning to pay my debt but i’m worried that they will arrest me now.
I want to hire a lawyer in UAE but I cannot afford it at the moment, my friends doesnt want to inquire in the bank coz’ they don’t want to be dragged in to this situation, scared that the bank will run after them.
Please enlighten me and advise.
Thank you and lookig forward in hearing soon from you.
Are you certain a warrant has been issued in Dubai for you over the debt? You mention someone in your security team stating this to you, you may want to confirm this in Dubai.
If no warrant has been issued, then you are fine.
If a warrant has been issued, to my knowledge since Yemen is outside the GCC, you should be fine, but I would seek legal advice there where you are to confirm this. Border agencies and matters such as this can change on a regular basis.
Have you been in contact with the banks in question?
Can you afford now to repay the debts?
Let me know what you find out.
