Will I Be Able to Buy a Car After Bankruptcy? – Gina

“Dear Steve,

I am in the process of filing it will take place soon as I am done paying off attorneys fees , This is for a chapter 7..I got sick back in 08 and was unable to pay my credit cards ..so since then there are huge interest fees attached..and everything is in collections…

I will want to buy a car maybe in 2 years or so..Will this be hard for me to do..? Will I have a hard time when it comes to looking for one? Will people turn me away?

The Answer

Dear Gina,

These are excellent questions for your bankruptcy attorney as well.

If you focus on rebuilding your credit following your bankruptcy, it should not be a problem to buy a car in the future. See this post about what to do.

If you follow that guide and save up a downpayment I think you’ll find you have little trouble in buying a new car in the future.

Please post your responses and follow-up messages to me on this in the comments section below.

Big Hug!
