Consumer Statement:
I had been paying in to DVA (later became The Firm Pllc) since Oct of 2009. I paid in over $35,000 to them to help negotiate and settle my debt. I ended up settling several on my own, and one particular one for Discover Card I had to go to court and work out a settlement agreement. Since The Firm/DVA had my escrow account I asked them to take the funds out of that account monthly and pay towards my escrow account. Well… in Oct of 2012, they apparently ceased paying my monthly amount of $253. Last month (Jan 2013) I received a notice to appear in court!! I immediately called The Firm and they said that they had nothing to do with DVA and gave me a bogus phone number to contact them.
Consumer Action Taken:
Since last fall (2012) I had been trying via letter, emails and phone calls to get my escrow account turned over to me… NEVER GOT AN ANSWER!! So, now I have to deal with the Discover Card account on my own and face going to court AGAIN… and paying the court fees! I contacted the Kentucky Attorney Generals office the beginning of February 2013 and filed a complaint. I called them on 2/15 and they still hadn’t reviewed my case. This is sooooo frustrating! DVA has over $5K in my escrow account and I can’t even talk to anyone!!
