First National Collection Bureau Falsely Verified I Owe a Debt. – Aaron

“Dear Steve,

For the past 6 months I have been dealing with a debt collection agency. First National Collection Bureau. They placed a debt on my credit report. The debt did not belong to me. My name was used fraudenlty.

I disputed the debt, and came back verified. I sent 2 certified letters, for validation. They never responded. Ive sent experian documentations, showing proof that the debt did not belong to me. Experian send me a letter, that they would no longer accept any more disputes regarding this debt.

What left is there to do to get this removed, from my credit files?

Dear Aaron,

Sadly I’m not surprised when this happens.

When you first found out your name had been fraudulently used, did you file a local police report?

It seems this is not just an issue of a credit report error but a case of identity theft. Please read Identity Theft Fraud Victims, Here’s Everything You Ever Need to Know to Fix the Mess.

And if you’ve been the victim of identity theft once, the odds are higher you will be again. Please consider engaging some credit monitoring service to get notice of these events as soon as possible.

The link I gave you to what you need to know to fix the mess contains step-by-step procedures for dealing with the identity theft issue on your credit report.

The key with identity theft is you must take action as soon as possible after you discover the problem. The longer you wait the more problematic it becomes.
