Avoid the bars because they cost a lot. Find an inexpensive new apartment or sublet. Sublets are very cheap because of the economy. Don't be afraid to negotiate. You would be surprised at what lengths landlords will go to get you to rent a room. You are more reliable and cleaner than their average tennant.
