“Dear Steve,
530-590 credit score… have gone late on several payments on credit card and car loan over past year… (current for the past 3 months) Had one item (an old utility bill) go to collections. I had no clue my score was this low.
How long does it take to raise your credit score by approximately 100 points.
Thomas”
Steve’s Answer:
Dear Thomas,
How long will it take, depends? It depends on what the current situation really is and cleaning that up. Once you do that then we need to start getting new good credit reported about you.
The first step here is to get a copy of your consolidated credit report. Click here to get this consolidated credit report. It is the one I use and I think it is the easiest to read and makes information from all three three credit bureaus easy to read and compare. When you order your consolidated credit report be sure to order your credit score with it.
If you do that the credit score with your consolidated credit report will tell you exactly what you need to do to raise your score.
How long will that all take? It will take as long as it takes you to do all of the above, clear the things that are bringing your score down and start to add new good credit.
You can add new good credit by getting a secured credit card that reports to the credit bureaus. It is best if it reports to all three major credit bureaus.
Big hug.
