Consumer Credit Counseling – Consumer Complaint – October 23, 2013

Consumer Statement:

Om October 20-22 2013, www.consumerloans.com out of Washington DC (so they say) was offering me a 5000.00 loan. I looked into them, and they seemed alright. I started the process. It was all normal until they told me to buy a green dot money pack and load it with 200.00. They claimed it was to prove I had the money to pay off the 18 month loan. About 2 hours later I get a call from said “supervisor” telling me because my credit score was too low, I needed to get another money pack for 250.00. This, I was told, would increase my credit score enough to be liable for a loan of 5445.00? So, after researching some more and asking numerous times if they were scammers, did it. I was given three numbers for Western union. I went to cash them and low and behold they didn’t work. NOT ONE. I was so upset I called them, they filled me full of BS about how I had to be there within a certain amount of time… blah blah blah. This, of course, isn’t true. After calling them, they told me I had to get first a 200 dollar card again, then it was 225 then 300 and finally 125. I REFUSED to pay them anymore than the 450.00 I already had. I went home in tears. My husband spent his money trusting these people, and they stole the food and shelter away from my kids. I was so excited to be able to have that extra money and not one of the 3 numbers worked. They tried telling me I had a time limit (complete BS), asked me not to talk to Western Union and not to discuss the moneypacks. These people rob the poor with false ideas and fake kindness. They then swore at me, used disgusting vulgar language, harassed me and KEPT my 450.

Consumer Action Taken:

I asked them to either refund me the original 450, follow through on their REAL transfer or take the NEW amount they HAD TO HAVE out of my original loan. It was no to everything. I was swore at, treated like dog crap, ripped off and all because of some company who is falsifying who they are, what they do and I intend to go to the attorney general. They wanted more money, that was it. So, they took food, a car, my children’s clothes, health products etc out of my home and gave me nothing but FALSE ILLEGAL HOPE. HERES the pathetic way they work though: Limitation of Liability

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL WE OR OUR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PERSON FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, RELIANCE, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, COST OF COVER, OR LOST DATA THAT ARISE IN WHOLE OR IN PART FROM THE USE OF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE, THE SITE OR THE SERVICES OR FUNCTIONS OF THE SITE OR ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS, THE SITE OR YOUR RELIANCE UPON, THE SITE OR THE SERVICES, CONTENT OR MATERIALS IN, OR FUNCTIONS OF, THE SITE, PROVISION OF, OR FAILURE TO PROVIDE SERVICES, OR INFORMATION, WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE). IN ADDITION, WE HAVE NO DUTY TO UPDATE THE SITE OR THE CONTENTS THEREOF UNLESS WE MAKE MATERIAL CHANGES TO OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION AND/OR USE PRACTICES. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES, LOSSES, AND CAUSES OF ACTION (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NEGLIGENCE, OR OTHERWISE) EXCEED FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00). APPLICABLE LAW MAY NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE SITE, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY SHALL BE TO DISCONTINUE USE OF THE SITE AND TERMINATE THIS AGREEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS HEREOF
