“Dear Steve,
My husband and i have made so many bad desicions it has led us into serious debt. Our house is morgaged up to max leaving no equity ay all. Our other debts total up to over 50,000 and we tried to enter into a debt management program but we were paying so much out we could hardly afford to eat or cloth our fast growing kids. The first is 9 years and the 2nd is 3 years old. We have now been advised to look into bankrupcy but i dont want to loose our house. Both me and my husband work full time, my husband has even changed shifts to cut down on child care costs. We are now so clouded we can not see any other options.
Is there a way we can pay our debts and still keep living in our house?
Lisa”
Steve’s Answer:
Dear Lisa,
You can go bankrupt and keep your house. Go talk to a local bankruptcy attorney about a chapter 13 bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is a serious matter and not something that I want you to make assumptions about. Schedule a free consultation with the attorney, talk to them, get the facts, and then you’ll have enough information to make a good decision moving forward.
Big hug.
