“Dear Steve,
I had 5 outsanding debts, that I never paid any payments on from 2004 I took out a small loan, and paid them all off in 2006(which I have paid on time to this day). Now that all five accounts are closed, How do I get them to take it off my report? Do I have to wait the 7 years and will it be a clean slate from there? Thank you for your time.
How do I get paid/closed debt accounts off my credit report?
Sara”
The Answer:
Dear Sara,
You don’t get to have them legally removed from your credit report. They will be reported for seven years and then will remain on your credit report file but simply not displayed anymore.
Items on your credit report are supposed to be true and factual. That includes the good stuff and well as the bad stuff.
I understand what you want to do but it is a bit like asking for a college transcript with everything below a B removed. It just is what it is.
