Dear Angela,
Despite the late night commercials or emails that you might get let me be clear about this fact, THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT GIVE GRANTS TO PAY OFF YOUR DEBT.
It’s a scam. It’s a scam to prey on desperate people looking for free and easy money to get out of debt. They don’t exist. Period.
Getting out of debt involves either increasing income, lowering expenses or a combination of the both. If you feel that with your situation you can’t do that, the most logical option for you to pursue is bankruptcy. But if you can afford at least your monthly minimum payments, keep paying those to keep your credit good.
