Questions about a Robert Lindsey aka Bob Lindsey

I am curious about this Robert Lindsey, aka Bob Lindsey. There is a new guy in our town and I think he is about to take a local realtor to the cleaners. I am curious as to what this man looks like and what his wife's name is if he has one or if she is just an accomplice. I don't know if that is the mans real name but that is what he is using but something is shady about him. I started searching the internet and found this. This man is already changing his POA and will for this man. How can I find out more about him. I am in Texas.

I had a consultation with a consumer yesterday who had enrolled in debt elimination scam.

The flavor of the scam has been around for years.

She had a combined $14,000.00 total debt spread over 4 accounts with 2 creditors.
She has been sued on all 4 accounts.
She paid the company $3000.00 for this privilege.

Young couple, living on a disability income supplemented by student loans, with 2 small children.

Ignoring the math, was their decision to pay someone that amount of money for something that was too good to be true beyond naive? Yes, and she admitted as much.

I am sure those people out there pushing these scams, and getting paid a ton to do so, find it abso-freakin-lutely fantastic, while ignoring the wreckage that is left in their wake.

Gerri,

Ah yes, the novation scam. How could I have overlooked that one?

I find these days that when people talk to me about their grand plans to craftily get out of debt, my answer tends to be, "Yep, it's a scam." And that is often followed by a look from the person that says I don't know what I'm talking about. These debt relief scams sound so plausible and logical that people get hooked into believing them. But at the end of the day it is nothing more than a separation of money from someone looking for what appears to be an easy way out.

Great advice Steve. I have seen these debt elimination scams pop up time and again. In fact, I knew someone who went to work for one. She was raking in more than $10,000/month in commissions...and a few months later was back to a day job. Turns out it wasn't want she was told it was.

Another version of this scam is the "novation" scam where a company "assumes" your debt so that supposedly if the creditor wants to sue you, they have to sue the company that took over your debt.

Unfortunately, debt is not illegal and companies that promise to wipe it out - other than bankruptcy firms - are scams, plain and simple.
