We Got Scammed By a Company That Promised to Eliminate Our Debt. – Sdmom

“Dear Steve,

We got scammed and now we are in deep trouble with debt. We used a company that promised to help us eliminate our debt. We paid them double digit thousands of dollars for their help and now they do not exist. They told us to stop paying out debt and gave us tips on going to court. We have been sued by one credit company and they won and got lawyer fees also. Now we have 5 other companies we owe total little over 100,000 not including student loan and car loans. We are not worried about our credit because it is already shot we just want to be able to start paying without wage garnishing?

What should be our steps in order to start paying these companies since we got scammed so badly? Is there a way to stop having wages garnished?

Sdmom”

The Answer:

Dear Sdmom,

You can stop the garnishment and suits with bankruptcy. You really need to go talk to a local bankruptcy attorney. Bankruptcy will offer you protection and as you said your credit is already shot so bankruptcy will be a route up and out of the current mess.

My husband called Carl starrett which has a office in the same city we live in. He was excellent with the questions hubby had. He said that he really feels good about this guy and feels like he really cares. Thank you so much for your help in finding this guy Steve.

yes I would like those names. Do the bankruptcy lawyers have to be certified differently?

    • http://GetOutOfDebt.org Steve Rhode

      Sdmom,

In San Diego try Carl Starrett II at http://www.chs-law.com/ or Mark martinez at http://potterhandy.com/

In fact contact both if you can and let me know your opinion of how they take care of you.

You can tell them I suggested that you contact them. Maybe that might get you a little VIP treatment.
