Aktiv Kapital told me my debt was no longer due then changed their story 2 weeks later. What do I say or do?

Hopefully it will turn out as the representative stated and you no longer owe the debt, but if they come back and say there was a mistake and you do owe the debt, you were prepared to pay it 2 weeks ago, so simply pay it now and be done with it.

You can research the statute of limitations on debts, but that can be a tricky area. 

Also, as you can imagine, getting some form of notice the debt is no longer owed, an email, letter in the post, etc, is always good to document what you have been told.

Let me know the outcome of their investigation.

I called this collection agency aktiv kapital two weeks ago to resolve a debt with them so i could get a credit card from my bank as it kept showing up to my bank as a collection, when i called them they guy on the phone specifically told me that it was no longer valid and that the statue of limitations on the debt had passed to much time had passed and it was no longer valid he even went far enough to say Ray dont you worry at all i will even put a not on the computer to get it removed from equifax so it will no longer trouble you.

wow great

so two weeks pass and my bank needs a letter from them to confirm this, so when i call back they tell me the debt is still valid and i have to pay so i said when i called 2 weeks ago and i had money and was ready to pay your official staff that you hired and pay said that it was taken care of and that it was all good so i took it at face value if the staff specifically says something its your companies mess up and your responsibility i was a little more dramatic and ssaid that my life and family was negatively effected blah blah

but anyway it seemed like i had them speechless cuz they said they where gonna listen to the call and phone me back so what do i say or do when they phone back in your opinion
