OfflineHello Corps,
There are not any free debt settlement companies that I am aware of. However, given your situation it seems that you would have plenty of leverage on your side to negotiate a good settlement. Are you current on the 20K card? If you were able to satisfy that debt, given your fixed income and other expenses, would your budget be in the positive moving forward? What bank do you owe the 20K to?
If you have good credit now, is it more important for you to keep your credit score the way it is, or get the debt settled and finished, even if it meant a big hit to your score?
Let me know, and I will help in any way I can for no charge. We appreciate your service to our country.

I am 100% disabled veteran on a fixed, tax-free income. I have a 100K mortgage, 15K Equity Loan, 23K credit card debt, and 12K auto loan. I want to fully meet the obligations of my loans with exception: would like to reach some sort of credit card debt settlement with the bank I owe 20K. (Contacted them twice and spoke with several agents–the last of whom said to go online and look as the bank denied assistance.) It's a 7.75% interest rate that I am currently paying approx $128 per month alone in interest. I've worked out an arrangement for my other credit card obligation. I need to make property improvements to ready it for market but do not have any other assets or savings. And unless I am able to reach some sort of settlement with the bank over my credit card debt, I face losing everything. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to support my fur family and meet their vet needs alongside my own medical challenges. Bankruptcy is not an option.
Are there any free, legitimate credit card debt settlement agencies out there that can help me to achieve settling my obligation with the bank indebted too? What's the most economical approach and quickest way out of my financial quandry while miminizing its impact on my credit reports/score and maximizing recovery towards building back credit-ability?
