Consumer Complaint: Hello, I have a defaulted school loan with XXXX XXXX /NAVIENT. The last time I spoke to them was years ago. I could n’t afford the monthly payment. After several forbearance ‘s I knew that I had to start paying again. I did n’t understand how I had so much forbearance time. I called. They were, without a doubt, trying to intimidate me asking me ” if I own my home, what kind of car do I have ( year, make and model ), what kind of bank accounts do I have? ” At that point I said ” pls just let me send you a check with a payment I can afford. ” They responded with ” I can only use a smart check ( I dont know what that is, similar to EFT I believe. ) I refused to give them my banking information. I told them I ‘d send a money order if they do n’t believe I would cover the funds. At that point I was met with a tone that made me uneasy. They refused the money order. I hung up and NEVER spoke to them again. My mistake I guess. My Mom co-signed this loan. They ‘re sending her notices and I ‘m afraid for her as well as myself. I ‘m afraid to even call them. I owe {$100000.00} in school loans. This one in particular was originally {$7000.00}. It ‘s now over {$10000.00}. I ‘ll never be able to repay all of this money. I never was able to get a job in the field I have my degrees in. I ‘ve accepted that however I can not repay all of this. I do n’t make enough money to. I ‘ve recently spoke to XXXX XXXX . They took my tax refund and put me in a worse hole now. I ‘ve begun to pay them. I ‘m afraid to call NAVEINT though as I ‘ve read about the lawsuit. I ‘m angry that the schools and the banks did n’t advise me better in regard to these types of loans. I was young and had no idea that {$65000.00} in school loans would be so difficult to repay and turn into {$100000.00}. I ‘m angry they allowed me to do so many forebearances. I ‘m angry they would n’t work with me previously – it ‘s not fair and I ‘m really lost at this point. I do n’t know if you can help my mother and me. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.
