Consumer Complaint: Back in XX/XX/2016 I was doing so research on student loan forgiveness. After a couple of calls and XXXX searches I was contacted by Equitable Acceptance Cooperation. I was told the Obama had passed this law and the student loans that I was paying back were not supposed to be that high. I was told that this company would get my student loans consolidated and it would be better for my credit and lower my monthly bill. This sounded great to me. This company told me that I would have to pay a fee for the service that would be broken up into monthly payments and then I would also have a new student loan payment plan. I unfortunately agreed to this as I thought it was a legit. After a few months I have been paying both my fee to Equitable Acceptance Cooperation and to XXXX. I contacted XXXX with some questions and they advised me that this was a scam and to report it to the Federal Trade Commission. Equitable Acceptance has put a hard inquiry against my credit and debt on my credit report.
