Consumer Complaint: I have received multiple calls from Portfolio Recovery ( Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX , VA XXXX ) They call from XXXX . He reads off my entire social security number and then tells me I owe XXXX XXXX {$4000.00} from an account I had in XX/XX/XXXX that was opened in XX/XX/XXXX . I informed him that it does not appear on my credit report and that I do not owe that money. He says he has mailed me several letter but I have never received any of them. I asked him to read me the address he mailed them to but he would not. Then he asks for my email so he can send me something but I did not give him that either. Then he said that it is me and that I owe the debt and since it is passed the Time Barre d that they will take me to court and get a judgement on my credit. I DO NOT OWE THIS DEBT. My ex wife and I filed bankruptcy many years ago to clear all this up. Then he said that under FTC law they bought the debt and that they can call me anytime to try to collect.
