Consumer Complaint: I became XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, and lost my job due to said XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. I contacted Navient about my private student loan ( or Signature Student Loan, as it is referred to on my account ). They told me I have no more forbearance and it would go to collections. They will offer me no lower payment. Since that time, I have been receiving 8 collection calls/day. When I called Navient, they said that they know how many times a day they can call, and that number is 8. They said they have their own internal collections. They do call between the specified times, but eight times per day. They said they are not harassing me, but trying to collect on a debt. Although I have been paying on this debt since XX/XX/XXXX, the principal alone is above the principal amount of the original loan. The original principal amount was {$29000.00}, and the payoff amount today is {$29000.00}. This has caused me to look at the history of my payments. I see that I was charged a {$920.00} ” repayment fee ” at the inception of the loan. I have no idea what that is, or if it is legit. Additionally, I do n’t see a total of how much I have actually paid already on the payment history. It sure seems like they would end up receiving a lot more than the principal amount than a person should have to pay. Especially for a student loan.

They said they will send me paperwork to complete, and if they find that I am permanently XXXX, the loan can be forgiven. The calls will stop for seven days. I asked once before for them to stop calling me because I am XXXX and have no job, and they told me I have to request that every 7 days, or the calls will continue.
