Product: Credit card debt

Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Consumer Consent Provided to Share Complaint: Consent provided

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX according to the judgement case file, a case was filed against me from portfolio recovery associates.

I never once received a summons to appear to court and on XX/XX/XXXX the default judgement was awarded to them.

I went to the court house recently to figure out what this was because I only found out about it while trying to get a house mortgage. They told me what address they sent it to which was wrong, and said the signature they could not read but yet the delivery was successful.

I ‘ve tried to contact them for more information and proof of this debt because I have never own a credit card through XXXX.

This is not only hurting my credit, but also hurting my chances of owning a home.

Thank you for your help.
