Consumer Complaint: While in XXXX school, I was on educational deferment. During the fall of 2016, I was a full time student at the University of XXXX. Half way through the semester, changed my enrollment status with one of my classes to audit and unbeknownst to me, this changed my enrollment status from full time to part time. Navient was notified of this change in status, however, I was not — by my school or by Navient, and my loans went in to repayment without my knowing. It was n’t until my bill was already past due that I was alerted to the situation. When my loan went into repayment in XX/XX/XXXX {$92.00} in interest was capitalized. Then another {$160.00} was capitalized in XX/XX/XXXX. And another {$11.00} was capitalized in XX/XX/XXXX when I went from educational deferment to Income Based Repayment. All of this was done without Navient every notifying me, or giving me the option to pay the interest before it was capitalized. The actions in this situation on the part of Navient have been, at best, negligent. In addition, I have {$2600.00} in previous capitalized interest, due to lack of proper communication and information delivered to me by my service provider.
