Consumer Complaint: I had fraudulent charges made against a XXXX credit card I had years ago. The debt first showed up in XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX. I signed an affidavit with citicard disputing the charges in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX. The debt was gone. Two years ago it shows back up and this Midland Funding LLC out of XXXX XXXX California starts trying to collect. I have disputed this several times with the various credit bureaus and they even acknowledge on XXXX that it was wrong on their part. Now they are threatening to sue me and sending me papers from alleged law offices here in Michigan. Today I got a letter from a bankruptcy attorney saying he wanted to help me because he sees i ‘ve had papers sent against me in the local district court. This debt is not mine and Midland is not the original debt collector, which went away after I signed the affidavit stating the charges were fraudulent. Midland Funding LLC fraudulently bought this fake debt from some other abusive debt collector. This is all wrong and I am the victim of abusive and immoral debt collection agencies seeking no more than to profit off of innocent people.
