Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Consumer Consent Provided to Share Complaint: Consent provided
Consumer Complaint: XXXX overcharged my account which has since been closed in the estimated amount of {$250.00}, so I called my bank to dispute the overages and they stopped the withdrawal. I closed my account confirming a zero balance with XXXX on or about XXXX. XXXX then came back and claimed I owed them {$110.00} which has escalated in owing $ XXXX to date and continues to show up on my credit report over and over after my disputes pulling down my scores. I can provide the names of each debt collector if necessary ; however, my main concern is to stop the initial false accusation of debt by XXXX. I tried and failed to resolve this problem with XXXX spent countless hours on hold and being hung up on only to call back and request to speak to supervisors and was transferred to a Texas customer service office vice a supervisor after holding an additional 30 minutes. XXXX has pulled this tactic with others with whom I have talked to as a way to extort monies when one closes an account with them. As someone who is working very hard to improve my credit I am outraged by corporate tactics to BULLY consumers into paying monies they do not owe and wish to exhaust every means possible to ensure they do not succeed in extorting me any further.
