Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Consumer Consent Provided to Share Complaint: Consent provided

Consumer Complaint: The company, Portfolio Recovery Associates, which I hold no contract with nor have received services from, reported a collection account against my SSN in the amount of {$460.00} with XXXX, XXXX and XXXX credit reporting agencies. I requested verification on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX,XX/XX/XXXXand XX/XX/XXXX of the debt and the account however the business failed to provide adequate proof ( contract, signature, etc.. ) regarding the alleged debt. Considering this business does not have a contract with me for goods or services and was unable to provide a signature or contract from me, I am not obligated to pay for the alleged debt. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB regarding this collection agency and its policy and again they have failed to provide proof or even acknowledge the debt in any substantial way, which has left this matter once again unresolved. This specific account is affecting my credit history with its unsubstantiated inaccuracies.
