Consumer Complaint: 0n XXXX XXXX, 2017 I received a letter allegedly from the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX attempting to collect a student loan by Treasury offset. On XXXX XXXX, 2017 at around XXXX XXXX., I placed a call to the number listed in the letter ( XXXX ) in an attempt to get more information on this account. I was told by the person that answer the call that the total amount of this alleged debt was over XXXX. I told the employee that the amount was totally wrong.
In the letter the total amount of the debt is listed as around XXXX ( copy attached ).
The number listed on the letter belongs to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, a loan servicer and a debt collector. It is not clear who is trying to collect here and what the amount of the debt is.
On XXXX XXXX, 2017 I sent a certified letter to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX requesting validation of this debt ( copy attached ). To this point it is unclear if the letter I received was sent by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX OR XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.
I am a veteran and after honorably serving this my adopted country with pride at least I believe I could request that the CFPB help me with the investigation of this matter.
