Equitable Acceptance – Consumer Complaint – October 30, 2017

Consumer Statement:

I signed up with equitable acceptance on September of 2016, when they called they said they were with the government and that they could help me get student loan debt relief. I was told I didn’t qualify to have my student loan completely forgiven but I would only owe my student loan $2,000 from my $10,000+ student loan I would have to pay them $49.95/ month for their service. I agreed believing I would only owe $2,000 of my loan. It’s been a year I have paid them $599.40 and I found out I still owe navient $10,000.

Consumer Action Taken:

I called the company to just cancel my account with them as soon as I found out I still owed navient 10,000 on my first call The operator was trying to talk me out of my decision on cancelling but I insisted I wanted to cancel he told me the process to cancel would be started and I would be notified. I called today and they kept wanting to talk me out of it when they noticed I wasn’t changing my mind they said Even if they cancel it I still owe them for their services. I explained to them I was lied to and their services have done me no good at all, in fact they have only have added another debt for me but we did not come to a mutual agreement.
