Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Consumer Consent Provided to Share Complaint: Consent provided

Consumer Complaint: I am getting contacted about a debt for ( {$620.00} ) that was bought from Midland Funding onXX/XX/XXXX. I have disputed the debt several times with all of the credit bureaus. The debt was removed from the credit bureaus on XX/XX/XXXX and then readded XX/XX/XXXX. I have no idea why. After several calls to the company to resolve the issue nothing has changed. I have asked for a validation letter to prove that the debt is mine and I have yet to receive anything. I have contacted the company several times to try to settle ( even though I have never acknowledged the debt as being mine ) and was told that they ” Midland Funding ” could not send written conformation to me advising that they would remove it from my credit reports even if the debt is paid. I am at my wits end because I am thinking if I wanted to make a payment and be done with it ( even though I do not owe the debt ) at any time I would have to make the payments again since there would be no proof that the original payment was taken.
