Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX 2017, I sent a certified debt validation letter to the company that that I believe to be known as AFNI, XXXX, and XXXX. I am not sure what the actual name of the company is because according to my credit reports, all of these names belong to the same company. I believe them to be headquartered out of a facility in XXXX, IL, per my credit report. Upon the receipt of my validation letter, the before mentioned company ” flagged ” the account that was on my credit report as a ” collection ”. Information was also altered. This was brought to my knowledge because of the alerts that I have on my credit report. They should not have done this. With this company taking this action they have violated a policy of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. According to the FDCPA they were supposed cease collection practices of this debt, which would include altering my credit reports, until satisfactory proof that I owe them this alleged debt was sent and received by me. This was not done so they are in direct violation of this policy.
