Consumer Complaint: Latest call on my cell phone from XXXX ( Midland Credit of Michigan, although their XXXX XXXX is in XXXX XXXX, CA ) on XXXX XXXX, 2017 looking for someone not related to me as usual. Many calls are ” hang-ups ” and never a message is left. Other calls come to my home phone. I am not a research service willing to give any debt collector any information about myself or anyone I may or may not know. I ‘m certain that just a call back to direct them never to call me again will result in my phone number being added to their database and sold by them to databases all over the country. There is precious little federal protection from this sort of data theft. Such calls, where the caller KNOWS you are not the person for whom they are searching are harassing, hurtful and unethical. When these mountebanks call you, ignore them, NEVER give them ANY information and report them immediately to the BBB and sites like complaint.consumerfinance.gov.
