Consumer Complaint: I just received a phone call from XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Colorado. They are attempting to collect on a debt I do not owe and are also contacting me after I told them not to contact me because I have proof I do not owe the debt.
They called me on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX at XXXX. The number they called from is XXXX. They asked to speak to me using a name I used in childhood that is not my legal name. When I asked what it was about, they said they were from XXXX XXXX XXXX, who I have filed a claim against before, and asked for my social security number. I told them I knew what it was about, I know I do n’t owe the so-called debt and have proof and I was n’t going to give them my social security number because I know my rights and I do n’t have to. The person on the phone then pretended like he could n’t hear me and hung up.
I immediately called back and spoke to a XXXX. I told them this is the second time this happened, I know I do n’t owe this debt, I do not want to get calls from them anymore, and it ‘s unacceptable that I was treated this way AGAIN by XXXX of their employees when I refused to give my social security number. I also informed them I would be filing a complaint, again, because this is unacceptable. They promised to remove me from their system and claimed they had no idea how I got re-activated in the first place.
This is officially bordering harassment as meets the legal definition and I want them to stop attempting to collect on a debt that is not owed, stop trying to force my social security number out of me ( scammy! ), and stop contacting me all together.
