Consumer Complaint: I received a notice on XX/XX/XXXX from Collection Bureau of America regarding a collection for {$140.00} with the creditor listed as ” XXXX XXXX ”.

I ended service with XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and, to the best of my knowledge, my account was in good standing at the time I ended service.

I contacted Collection Bureau of America via Telephone on XX/XX/XXXX and requested documentation to support the collection. The telephone representative told me they would send documentation within 20 days or they would remove the collection. I received no response.

It came to my attention in XX/XX/XXXX that there was negative information regarding an outstanding collection on my credit report, so I contacted Collection Bureau of America in writing on XX/XX/XXXX requesting documentation to support this collection. I received a letter from Collection Bureau of America on XXXX including fraudulent documentation to support this debt. The fraudulent bill was dated XX/XX/XXXX, but it was sent to my current address ( we did n’t even put an offer on this house until XX/XX/XXXX ). In addition, the amounts listed on the bill did not add up properly. The service period was listed as XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX ; however, the date of the charges was listed as 3/26/2015. The amount due was registered as over 120 days late ( even though the charges were dated AFTER the statement date ).
