Consumer Complaint: I received a call from my son today ( XX/XX/18 ), who lives in a different state and has no ties to my finances, asking why he was receiving a phone call about an {$800.00} debt I owed! XXXX XXXX XXXX uses a taped calling program that states ” if you aren’t _______ then please hang up. ” But most people are curious and will go on and listen anyway. This call released information that they were trying to collect a debt of {$800.00} and then proceeded to give information on how to pay it.
This is NOT the way debt collectors should be allowed to communicate with those who owe a debt. This is wrong in every sense. I understand I owe the debt, but I do not have a job and was in a horrific accident months ago that has rendered me unemployable at the time. I do not expect ANYONE to contact people with information that can be damaging to them. This is just wrong that this company, or any company can release information about others under the notion they are doing it legally. This is embarrassing, harmful and can have devastating effects for consumers.
